Judging by the scope of emergency orders for saws, expect also to hear about more amputations than at any time since the Civil War. 1/19/2010 - FACE-OFF A woman's face completely peeled off after an allergic reaction to over-the-counter Paracetamol, found in many products. 1/16/2010 - RETURN OF SENATE GRIDLOCK Wow! It's starting to look like a Republican will win Ted Kennedy's Massachusett's Senate seat and break the Democratic sixty-vote majority. In this despicable era of Pelosi and Reid, the prospect of gridlock has, unfortunately never been so welcome. 1/16/2010 - CONAN SUCKED! Zucker is paying Conan $30 or 40 million to leave NBC. Say what you will about Leno; but that's just how bad Conan was at his post. 1/15/2010 - NBC AGENDA TO GET RID OF CONAN The whole goal and agenda of NBC was obviously to get rid of Conan. God knows it was necessary. His show simply sucked. And I have hardly missed a show of his in fifteen years. So I'm only a new detractor. 1/15/2010 - LENO LANDS LIKE A CAT Leno had the number one show for seventeen years. Conan ruthlessly tried to squeeze him out of it, but Leno reappeared at 10 PM. When things at NBC imploded because of Conan's godawful failure, it was Conan who had to walk, while Leno won his old show back. And whether Conan goes to FOX or Kimmel just hangs at ABC, they should both know enough to at least feign some respect for the old master who they wish would just disappear, lest Leno ever casually decides to surface at either of their networks. 1/15/2010 - CONAN, AN "ABOMINABLE FAILURE" Head NBC sports executive, Dick Ebersol, had no choice but to respond to Conan's many attacks by saying, as I have said all along, "Let's face it, Conan's show was an abominable failure," and calling him "chicken-hearted" and "gutless." If only Conan had delivered a great show, none of this would have ever been an issue. Instead, he stubbornly insisted on repeating each joke with a juvenile and embarrassing pantomime follow-up, and now has only lawyers, letters, and resentful insults to NBC and Leno to fall back on. NBC is, of course, no better than any typical corporation, but Conan is even more pathetic. 1/15/2010 - MEAN COMEDIANS You can interrupt a Richard Pryor standup to criticize cultural double standards in a serious tone, or a late night monolog to commemorate a deceased entertainer, but there's never room to take a break from comedy to spout pure meanness. Nothing can forever kill the willing suspension of disbelief more. Letterman's fraudulent claims that he was being blackmailed was a mean-spirited hiatus. Conan's handling of NBC and his attacks on Leno are resentful, petty, and mean-spirited. Kimmel's relentless attack on Leno on Leno's own show, and from the safety of a televison screen, was so mean-spirited and uncalled-for that it is clear that the spirit of humor will never be found again anywhere near Kimmel's show. And all that despite how respectfully all other entertainers have avoided joking about or acknowledging Kimmel's ridiculous headpiece. 1/11/2010 - CONAN THE EMPLOYEE Conan is extremely bitter and immature in his jokes about NBC. "Glad to hear they'll be losing $200 million in the Winter Olympics." He knows that he is the loser. Only a network like FOX would hire an employee who makes fun of his employer losing $200 million and makes jokes about stealing office supplies. 1/11/2010 - LENO THE WINNER Leno is handling the news well. His jokes about it are powerful. He is concealing the fact that he will be a winner. 1/11/2010 - LETTERMAN THE COWARD Letterman still looks everywhere but at the camera and now has many more reasons not to. 1/5/2010 - ANDY MOVES TO THE COUCH Conan has Andy sitting by him again. It was only a matter of time. But nothing will help until Conan stops pantomiming and silently physically acting out every joke after he delivers it. | ||||||
