ALEF FONTS

(Edited and formatted by George ALEFantes)

We have collected more than 15,000 fonts over the years since the mid-1990s. We undertook a major process along the way to remove duplicates and lookalikes, eradicate teaser fonts with missing letters, and of course thin-out approximately two-thirds of the collection leaving only the best 5,000.

We did it again after that with an increased ferocity, keeping only the best 20%, or 1,000 fonts (actually about 1,250), or 7% of the original total. And they indeed are the very best of the best.

They are organized less conventionally than in traditional collections in an effort to minimize the overall number of categories:

Dingbat or Symbol fonts, those that print graphic images instead of letters, are included throughout all of the categories and are indicated by the word "SYMBOL" both by the font name and in the font's filename.

A small percentage of the final number of fonts are fixed width, rather than the normal proportionally-spaced fonts. They are useful for Text Editors, some database requirements, and more. They are indicated by the word "FIXED" beside their names and as suffixes to the filenames themselves. They too are scattered throughout all of the categories.

Foreign and ancient language fonts are also included throughout the relevant categories.

Unfortunately, we haven't had the time to prepare and post them, but will do so as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we've at least made available the following BST Greek and BST Hebrew fonts, the best of their kind, for your use in studying and rendering these two beautiful and critical ancient languages.

The rest will have been worth waiting for.
