ALEF ADMINISTRATION - LEGAL

TERMS OF USE

We maintain a philosophy about the Net that encourages privacy, freedom, and anonymity and manifests itself in our Site design. All features of ALEF.Net may be used without providing any personal information. Visitors may go anywhere, see anything, do anything, make submissions and recommendations, submit questions, ideas, suggestions, criticism, complaints, and praise. See the ALEF Standards for further information on Conduct, Content, and other matters. Otherwise, have a fun and enriching experience.

SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

All submissions are evaluated manually without aggregating or other automated software. Repeated identical submissions will not ensure a higher chance of acceptance and inclusion, but may, rather, actually disqualify it from consideration. Furthermore, the following acknowledgements are provided for any entries in any Gallery:
Submitted by Submitter Name/Alias (for those who submit the artwork for our evaluation and posting),
Suggested by Suggestor Name/Alias (for those who suggest a Meta Link, an entry in a Gallery, or an entire Gallery),
Created by Artist Name/Alias (for the creator of the work),
and From WebsiteName.Com (for the originating Website).
Furthermore, Links to the Websites for any of the above are also graciously provided upon request.
Visitors are encouraged to assist us in our effort to acknowledge Submitters, Suggestors, Artists, and Websites. Visitors who provide Submissions or Recommendations may include a First and Last name or an Alias with their Submission, otherwise the entry will be recorded as Anonymous. Even if Visitor Accounts are ever implemented in the future, Anonymous Submission and Site use will remain. Certain classes of recommendations from unscrupulous marketeers are blocked, others are completely ignored. Be sure to see the ALEF Standards for further information on Submissions, Recommendations, and other forms of contact, as well as other matters of Conduct. Visitors are otherwise encouraged to be as creative, free, and anonymous as possible and, above all else, to enjoy, take interest, and find value in the Site.

VISITOR ACCOUNTS

We currently do not use Accounts for our Visitors. If we decide to implement them at a future time, they will be optional and mainly for purposes of Submissions, Recommendations, and other Features not currently included in the Site. An Account will allow creation of Visitor IDs, or Aliases, and Passwords to identify contributors of multiple Submissions throughout the Site. Visitors will also be able to optionally identify submissions by first and last name. Otherwise, Submissions, Recommendations, and Contributions are recorded Anonymously. Likewise, email addresses will also be optional for additional features such as status responses to suggestions, submissions, recommendations, and contributions.

PURCHASE POLICY

We do not currently provide any items for sale or require credit cards for any processes. If this changes at a future time, a Visitor Account will not be required to make purchases; the relevant information will be requested at purchase time and payment information will not be saved.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

We currently do not collect any personal information. If that changes in the future, we will clearly notify Visitors of what is collected and why. But it will always be safe and will never be sold or dissenimated in any manner whatsoever.

PRIVACY

Privacy, Security, Anonimity, and Freedom on the Web are among our greatest concerns and efforts. When Sites say they "value" privacy, they don't mean "regard highly and esteem," as in "appreciate," but mean, rather, "determine or estimate the worth or value of," as in "appraise" in order to ascertain the selling price of personal information. The only tenderness they have toward privacy and personal information is in its context as legal tender.

We, on the other hand, have no interest in your identity and do not exist as a magnet for personal information for the sole purpose of selling it: We neither sell, trade, nor otherwise disclose indentities or personal information to any third parties - with the obvious exception of cooperating with Law Enforcement in the event of a criminal investigation.

ADVERTISERS

We currently do not solicit advertisers. If that changes in the future, only reputable advertisers, sponsors, and benefactors who meet our Standards and requirements will be considered.

They will offer relevant, quality, and useful products
They will place their banners and material on our Site according to our Standards and policies and without technologies that track our Visitors including, but not limited to, Web bugs or beacons, tracking cookies, spyware, and viruses
They will never be provided with whatever personal or identifying information of our Visitors we may collect
They will never influence our content or our attitude

We hope you will visit their Sites as the needs arise and support and patronize their services and products with your interest, your purchases, and your kind words according to their deserving.

CONTACT FROM ALEF.NET

ALEF.Net will make every effort to respond to all serious email contacts and maintain whatever dialog is necessary and constructive. Otherwise, ALEF.Net does not currently contact Visitors by email or any other means. If that changes in the future, it would only be at the Visitor's request and only for as long as the Visitor wishes.

COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL

All work, whether text and graphic content or Website design and programming code, is copyright ALEF (ALEF.Net), The ALEF NETwork (ALEFNetwork.Com), and/or George ALEFantes. Some content is copyrighted by third parties and is either used here with explicit permission or in strict accordance with Title 17 USC Section 107 of the US Copyright Law:

107 - LIMITATIONS ON EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS: FAIR USE
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include -
1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

PURPOSES

ALEF.Net exists, among other reasons, for the myriad purposes of advancing, facilitating, encouraging, and enabling Reading, Reference, Study, Exposure, Education, Enrichment, and Enlightenment.

In addition to the example purposes expressed in the Fair Use clauses of the Copyrighted Material Code - "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research" - we hope to also provide some combination and degree of the following, as well:

Entertainment, enjoyment, and escape; exposure, experience, and exemplification; empowerment and edification; escalation, expansion, enhancement, and enlargement; enchantment and endearment; encouragement and enticement; engrossment and entrenchment; explication and explanation; exuviation, expurgation, expostulation, extrapolation, and exegesis; exploration, experimentation, examination, and evaluation; emanance and excellence; enthrallment, enthusiasm, excitement, exhilaration, exuberance, exaltation, and enrapturement; education, enrichment, emancipation, exculpation, enlightenment, and etherealization.

We believe our purposes constitute a "Fair Use" of all material included on this Site in strict accordance with Title 17 USC Section 107 of the US Copyright Law, not only in the letter, but in the spirit of the law, as well.

Be sure to check all copyrights and obtain permission from copyright owners, as necessary, if you intend to use any copyrighted material from this Site for purposes of your own that go beyond "Fair Use."

NOT FOR PROFIT

ALEF.Net exists in a strictly non-profit and non-commercial capacity, uncomromised and uncomplicated by the pursuit of income. We collect no fees from Visitors, we sell no services to Advertisers, and we receive absolutely no remuneration whatsoever for inclusion in our Galleries, Links, Product Reviews, and other content.

ALEF (ALEF.Net) is a calling and a labor of love of George ALEFantes and the ALEF Network (ALEFNetwork.Com), his computer, Internet, and office support service company, so it will always remain a free, reliable, and educational experience. The ALEF Network, on the other hand, is necessarily fee-based. So when you need expert and highly creative World Wide Web, Multimedia, Programming, Networking, advanced Technical and Emergency Support, and most other technical and business-based services, please consider rendering unto them what is theirs.
