CONTENT AND LINKS EXCLUDED

Though the Site's mandate is "Direct Access to All" and despite our open and all-encompassing demeanor, there is, nonetheless, certain content that we specifically exclude:

We make no judgment about pornographic content that employs the proper safeguards, but "Direct Access to All," in addition to meaning "to all knowledge," also means "to all people." And in that regard, we do not wish to exclude any age group or gender from ALEF.Net as a result of Links to adult or pornographic Sites. But additionally, there is a far higher incidence of security dangers and abuse from these types of Websites; often employing cutting-edge technologies in sleezy and malicious manners to violate and intrude upon their visitors. And finally, no one needs any introduction or direction to find them; in fact, they will find you.

The following types of Sites and Content are also excluded, but with prejudice, on principle, and with a vengeance:

Gambling and casino Sites.

Pharmaceutical Sites and their nauseating minions that glorify, promote, and peddle their sex and anti-depressant drugs as if by divine sanction, when it is no less than genocide.

Phishing and spam associated products, services, and schemes by aggressive but shamelessly illiterate marketeers and scammers.

Criminal and nefarious Sites, especially as a result of Sites changing ownership; being hijacked; being acquired with confusingly similar names for malicious purposes and deceptive profiteering; or being taken-over by squatters and ambushers who wait for the fees to expire or lapse then post a Site that looks similar to the original but now only offers Links to all of the above types of excluded and defiling Sites and content.

Sites that promote Hate or intolerance.

Sites and content that violate the spirit of any of the Minimum Standards.

CONTENT AND LINKS NOT EXCLUDED

Despite our strict exclusion of pornographic Sites, we do not exclude content based on nudity, per se. Relevant depictions associated with art, history, news, criticism, or other valid disciplines may be randomly encountered.

Nor do we exclude content or censor any language based on profanity, again when it is relevant and valid in its context or trivial compared to the value of the work within which it is contained. For example, in our Lyrics Gallery, we have prepared and included lyrics from the Gangster Rap genre where the content is significant. Tupac's Trading War Stories, for example, certainly among the most hardcore specimens, is actually a dramatic condemnation of "Thug Life." And in I Ain't Mad at Cha, where most hear and transcribe the phrase "cause crime pays," he is clearly stating "cause rhyme pays" and talking about a far more complicated scenario than might be expected. We believe his "Thug Poetry" has much to offer and his early passing represents a far greater loss than can be imagined. Hand of the Dead Body, by Scarface and Ice Cube, is another highly-recommended masterpiece which, though repleat with profanities, epithets, and themes of violence, addresses the very double standard that singles-out and stigmatizes Rap music in the first place. All of their works deserve special attention.

Nor do we exclude, censor, downplay, or dilute any content based on subject matter, whose unobstructed path is critical to the pursuit of truth and enlightenment. Ideas, themes, theories, views, and the overall endeavors of the Site, whether accepted or not, are often alternative, innovative, outside-of-the-box, anathema to current paradigms, and certain to strain intellectual, emotional, and spiritual sensibilities on matters of life, death, and everything before, during, and after. But whether by disbelieving, opposing, eliminating, or embracing them, the contemplation and the dialogs that they elicit offer the potential to free the spirit and approach enlightenment. And though we have endeavored to make this Site equally useful for younger students and scholars at the onset of their own pursuits, be advised that discussions of Santa Claus will contain no effort to maintain the untruths that are required to enthral the very young. Nor will that be the case with all of the other Santa Clauses of our civilizations, histories, and experience.

We do not exclude based on philosophical content: One can study many religions and faiths without belonging to all of them, or even any of them. Likewise, one can find value in both Plato and Aristotle without accepting both sets of paradigms, or either.

We do not exclude content based on personal taste or level of usefulness: Though Amazon.Com and CoastToCoastAM.Com are among our own favorites, they are included for their potential usefulness to our Visitors. Inversely, YouTube.Com and MySpace.Com, being so wildly popular, are also included, though we avoid them like the plague due to their unsafe and unreasonable requirements that Scripts, Cookies, ActiveXs, and Flash be enabled in order to participate. We will, instead, likely express our dissatisfaction or critique in the Analysis section we provide for each Link or as appropriate wherever relevant.

DISCLAIMERS

Though we go to great lengths to confirm the quality and usefulness of the Sites to which we provide Links (including those belonging to current or future advertisers) and of the Features, Galleries, Games, and Works that comprise this Site, we cannot be responsible for what might exist there now or at a future time in the way of Text and Graphic content; opinions and points of view; privacy policies; and broken Links.

Be advised, be aware, and always be alert.

ALEF (ALEF.Net), the ALEF Network (ALEFNetwork.Com), and George ALEFantes do not necessarily endorse, support, or agree with the content and opinions of every Website to which we provide Links or of the entries in the variety of Galleries that we showcase. But we find them indispensible and celebrate a diversity of views.

Untruth, befuddlement, and obfuscation: There are many wrong turns on the road to truth and enlightenment: Each teaches the terrain and improves the skill of travel. Some people argue that there are only wrong turns, that the very process of examining and eliminating them itself constitutes enlightenment.
